You’ve tried the diets. You’ve done the plans. This is different. You will receive a full clinical assessment and, if you’re eligible, your treatment will be provided the same day by a pharmacist who knows your case personally.
Most patients who walk through our door have already tried diets, exercise plans, meal replacements, and everything in between. We don’t judge that – we start from where you are. Our pharmacist sits with you, reviews your full health picture, and gives you an honest assessment of what’s realistic for your body. No quick questionnaire. No faceless online process. A real clinician who you can walk back in and talk to three months from now.
“I lost 2st in 2 months and honestly cannot thank Taheri enough. My weight had plateaued on Slimming World and I was becoming increasingly frustrated. My initial consultation gave me the facts in a realistic manner. Taheri is kind, honest and positive — offering weight management solutions without judgement.”

“I honestly can’t recommend the clinical weight management programme at Your Local Erdington Pharmacy enough! Having regular check-ins with a prescribing pharmacist made a massive difference. When life got busy, I stopped attending my reviews for a few months, and without that accountability, I put a stone back on. As soon as I restarted my regular checks with Taheri, it clicked again. With their structured support, I safely lost the weight and got right back on track. If you’re struggling to do this alone, having this clinical team in your corner is a game-changer.”

Every patient who begins a weight management programme with us is assessed and overseen by a qualified independent prescribing pharmacist. This means clinical decisions are made by someone with full prescribing authority, not by a remote clinician you will never meet.
If you have a question six months into your programme, you can walk in and speak to the same team who started you.
Your consultation is a proper clinical conversation, not a tick-box exercise. Our prescribing pharmacist reviews your BMI, medical history, medications, and lifestyle in detail before any treatment decision is made.Â
We discuss realistic expectations, how each treatment works, and which option is most appropriate for your individual health profile. Nothing is prescribed until you are fully informed and clinically assessed.
We don’t hand out a standard kit. After your consultation, your clinician selects the treatment that fits your BMI, health profile, and goals, and explains exactly why.
Tirzepatide is a once-weekly injectable treatment that works on two appetite-regulating hormone receptors, GIP and GLP-1. It reduces hunger, slows the rate at which food leaves the stomach, and helps regulate blood sugar. Tirzepatide is available in six doses from 2.5mg to 15mg, with titration managed by our pharmacist during your programme. It is an MHRA-approved prescription-only medicine, supplied only following a face-to-face clinical assessment.
Semaglutide is a once-weekly GLP-1 receptor agonist that works by mimicking a hormone produced in the gut after eating. It signals to the brain that you are full, reduces appetite, and slows gastric emptying, which helps you eat less without feeling deprived. Wegovy, the MHRA-approved semaglutide for weight management, differs from Ozempic, which is licensed for type 2 diabetes. Wegovy is available in five doses from 0.25mg to 2.4mg, with pharmacist-guided titration.
For patients preferring non-injectable options or not yet qualifying for GLP-1 therapy, we offer orlistat treatments that block about one-third of dietary fat absorption.
Wegovy oral tablet (semaglutide 1.5mg, 4mg & 25mg), a once-daily prescription tablet for patients who prefer an oral route over injection, taken on an empty stomach after an 8-hour fast and supplied following a face-to-face assessment.
Xenical 120mg, the branded prescription-strength capsule, is taken with fat-containing meals alongside a low-calorie diet and requires a prescription.
Generic Orlistat 120mg, an unbranded version of Xenical, is prescribed after consultation, offering a cost-effective option.
Alli 60mg is an over-the-counter option for adults with BMI 28+, suitable as a starting point for those not eligible for prescriptions.
The research is unambiguous. Patients receiving structured clinical oversight alongside their medication achieve significantly better results, on the same treatment, at the same dose.
Research published in Diabetes Care (American Diabetes Association) found that weight management pharmacotherapy causes significant lean muscle loss alongside fat. Without active clinical guidance on resistance activity and nutrition, delivered through regular clinical review, patients may lose muscle they cannot easily recover.
“Overweight and obesity should be considered chronic long-term conditions which require ongoing support.” NICE Guideline NG246, National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, 2023
Individual results vary. All figures cited are from published peer-reviewed research and do not represent outcomes specific to this service. Your preferred treatment option will not be prescribed if it is not clinically appropriate.
GLP-1 treatments need a minimum of 8–12 weeks to reach full therapeutic effect. Our programmes are structured around this reality, intensive clinical support when you need it most, transitioning to ongoing oversight as you build confidence.

Designed for patients with complex health profiles or ambitious long-term goals
£89/month + prescription treatment from £130/month (confirmed at consultation) 3-month programme cycle
Clinical exception: If your prescribing pharmacist determines that treatment should be paused or stopped for clinical or safety reasons at any point, your programme fee commitment stops at the same time. Your health always comes before the programme schedule.
Important: Your preferred treatment option will not be prescribed if it is not clinically appropriate for you. All prescribing decisions are made by our independent prescribing pharmacist at your face-to-face consultation, not by this website. Prices shown are indicative. Your exact prescription cost is confirmed at consultation before you commit to anything.
If our clinician determines at consultation that prescription weight management treatment is not clinically appropriate for you, there is no charge. We'd rather tell you the truth than take your money for something that isn't right for your health. We are equally committed to every patient's programme, if at any stage you feel we haven't delivered on our promise of support, speak to our team and we will make it right.

Select your programme and dose stage for an indicative monthly estimate. No POM is named and no specific medicine is implied, your prescription is determined at consultation
Step 1 — Choose your programme
Step 2 — Select dose stage
These are general guidelines. Your pharmacist will confirm at consultation, as some cases are assessed individually. If you’re unsure, call us before booking.
Weight loss with these treatments is gradual and intentional. Here’s what most patients experience.
Most patients notice a reduction in appetite within the first two weeks. Physical weight loss at this stage is typically 1 to 2kg as your body adjusts. Side effects, if any, are usually mild and temporary.
Your dose is increased incrementally based on tolerance. Most patients see 0.5 to 1kg per week during this period. Each titration step typically lasts 4 weeks, and your pharmacist manages the pace with no rush.
By this stage, most patients are on a dose producing steady results. In clinical studies, average weight loss at six months is 10 to 15% of starting body weight for semaglutide, and higher for tirzepatide (STEP-1 and SURMOUNT-1 trials respectively). Your pharmacist reviews progress at every stage.
We review whether to continue, adjust, or gradually taper your treatment. Long-term weight management support includes dietary guidance and monitoring, because the goal is results that last, not results that reverse when you stop.
Individual results vary. The experiences described reflect typical patterns reported in clinical literature and patient outcomes. They are not guaranteed for every individual. Your pharmacist will discuss realistic expectations at your consultation.
Side effects are possible with any medicine. We give every patient a clear written guide and a direct line to the pharmacist if anything concerns them.
Important for patients taking the combined oral contraceptive pill: Both tirzepatide and semaglutide may reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives. Use an additional barrier method for 4 weeks when starting or increasing your dose. Your pharmacist will advise you at consultation.
Our weight management clinic is at 238 Wheelwright Road, Erdington. We regularly see patients from across Birmingham. If you’re outside these areas, call us and we’ll advise.
We’ll send you our free guide to clinician-led weight management: what to realistically expect, who it’s right for, and what questions to ask at your first consultation. No pressure. No sales.
GLP-1 treatments need a minimum of 8–12 weeks to reach full therapeutic effect. Our programmes are structured around this reality, intensive clinical support when you need it most, transitioning to ongoing oversight as you build confidence.
Your monthly cost has two parts. The programme fee (£35, £55, or £89/month depending on your chosen tier) covers all clinical support: your initial consultation, weekly appointments in months 1 to 2, ongoing oversight, titration management, written plans, and the level of proactive contact your tier includes. This is separate from the cost of your prescription medicine, which varies depending on the treatment and dose prescribed at consultation. Starter treatments are available from £130/month, and both figures are confirmed before you commit to anything. If your prescribing pharmacist determines that treatment should be paused or stopped for clinical reasons, your programme fee commitment stops at the same time.
Yes. At Your Local Erdington Pharmacy, you can begin treatment without a GP letter or NHS referral. Our independent prescribing pharmacist carries out a full clinical assessment and determines, based on your individual profile, whether prescription treatment is appropriate for you.
Most patients receive their first injection the same day as their consultation, provided they meet the eligibility criteria and stock is available at the time of their appointment.
NHS access to GLP-1 weight loss treatments is currently limited and depends on specific eligibility criteria. Private prescription is often more readily accessible, though suitability is always assessed individually at your consultation.
You are not required to follow a rigid diet plan, but a calorie-aware diet improves your results. We provide practical dietary guidance at your consultation without prescribing a restrictive regime.
You can stop at any time. We advise a gradual tapering approach where possible to reduce the risk of weight regain. Your clinician will talk through your options at any review appointment.
GLP-1 treatments can interact with other medications, so we review your full medication list at consultation. If you have type 2 diabetes and take more than metformin, GP approval is needed before we can treat you.
Weight loss from GLP-1 medications is not always permanent once treatment stops. We discuss long-term weight management strategies with every patient to help maintain results after the programme ends.
If you are ready to take a medically supported approach to losing weight, we are here to help. Book a consultation at Your Local Erdington Pharmacy and speak to a clinician who will give you an honest assessment and a plan that actually fits your life.
