Getting vaccinated with us takes three simple steps. Most appointments are over within 15 minutes.
Book online or call us to see if you qualify for the NHS vaccine or prefer a private one. Unsure? We'll verify your eligibility before your appointment.
The pharmacist will ask about your health, allergies, and current medications to ensure the vaccine is safe for you. Feel free to ask questions. Nothing proceeds without your consent.
Wear loose or short sleeves for the arm vaccine. Kids get a quick puff in each nostril for the nasal spray. We'll inform you about side effects and when to seek help before you leave.
Flu is not a bad cold. In a tough winter, it’s linked to thousands of deaths in England, and it fills hospital beds every year from December onwards.
COVID-19 still puts older and vulnerable people in hospital, especially when new variants spread. Both viruses peak around the same time, which is when the NHS is under the most pressure.
Vaccination lowers your chance of getting seriously ill. It also cuts the risk of passing the virus to a grandparent, a newborn or someone having cancer treatment.
Anyone can catch the flu or COVID-19. Some people are far more likely to end up in hospital if they do:
If you fall into one of these groups, don’t wait for the flu to reach your household. Get vaccinated early in the season.
The NHS sets eligibility every season, and it can change from year to year. We check you against the current criteria when you book.
You can usually get a free flu vaccine if you are:
Most adults are vaccinated from 1 October. If you’re pregnant, you can have it from 1 September, and it’s worth going early. Children aged 2 and 3, school-age children, and children with certain health conditions are also eligible. From 1 October 2026, pharmacies can vaccinate children aged 2 to under 18 in clinical risk groups. Ask us about your child’s nasal flu vaccine.
Under current NHS guidance, you can get a free COVID-19 vaccine if you are:
Don’t qualify for the NHS vaccine? You can still get protected with us:
Private flu jab
Private COVID-19 vaccine
Many people go private because they work with the public, travel in winter, or simply don’t want to lose a week to the flu.
For adults, we use a cell-based flu vaccine, grown in cells rather than hens’ eggs. The vaccine is updated every year to match the strains expected that winter.
It’s an inactivated vaccine, so it cannot give you the flu. After the injection, your immune system builds antibodies, and protection kicks in after around two weeks.
For children, we offer the nasal spray flu vaccine. It contains weakened flu viruses that train the immune system without causing flu, and there’s no needle involved.
We use an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine, updated for recent variants of the virus, for both NHS and private patients.
The vaccine gives your cells short-lived instructions to make a harmless piece of the virus’s spike protein. Your immune system learns to recognise it and fight the real virus if you meet it.
The mRNA is broken down by your body within days. It doesn’t enter the nucleus of your cells and cannot change your DNA.
Most adults and children can have these vaccines safely. You should get vaccinated if you’re in an at-risk group or simply want to avoid a rough winter.
Speak to our pharmacist first, or you may not be able to have the vaccine, if you:
The nasal spray isn’t suitable for all children, especially those with a weak immune system, severe asthma, active wheezing, severe egg allergies, or those in contact with immunosuppressed individuals or on aspirin.
If the nasal spray isn’t suitable, we’ll talk you through the alternatives.
Side effects are usually mild and settle within a day or two. They’re a sign your immune system is responding.
A sore or red arm, a slightly raised temperature and aching muscles.
A runny or blocked nose, headache, tiredness and less appetite for a day or so.
A sore arm, tiredness, headache, chills or feeling a bit sick.
Serious reactions are rare. Our team is trained to deal with allergic reactions on the spot, and adrenaline is held on site. A brief observation period may be requested after your vaccination.
After an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine, heart inflammation has been reported very rarely, mostly in young men. Seek urgent medical help if you get chest pain, shortness of breath or a pounding heartbeat in the days after.
If you qualify for both, we give your flu and COVID-19 vaccines at the same appointment, one in each arm, saving a second trip.
Our adult flu vaccine is cell-based and egg-free, which suits people with egg allergies. (Note that the children’s nasal spray flu vaccine contains egg protein, so speak to us if your child has a severe egg allergy.)
Private flu jabs cost £25 and private COVID-19 vaccines cost £85 per dose. The price you see here is the price you pay.
We stay open until 7pm on Wednesdays and open 10am to 2pm on Saturdays, so you can get vaccinated outside normal working hours.
Most children don’t need a needle. We give the nasal spray flu vaccine, a quick puff in each nostril, which most kids barely notice.

I attended Your Local Pharmacy in Erdington today for the first time to have a B12 injection. I was unable to get a timely appointment at my GP practice and was desperately in need of my B12 jab. I was amazed at the level of customer focussed care extended to me today. After an in-depth consultation I received my B12 injection and provided with after care literature and monitoring form. I've booked my next appointment for six weeks. I cannot speak highly enough of the level of care received today and can highly recommend Your Local Pharmacy, Erdington. Thank you Your Local Pharmacy Erdington.Posted on Google![]()

I woke up with a blocked ear, made what I thought was a same day appointment. I arrived 5 minutes early which is when I realised I'd actually booked for the next day. Thankfully they managed to fit me in, 10 minutes later no more blocked ear. I didn't get the gentleman's name that treated me, he was super welcoming and very professional throughout. Perfect service, will definitely use them again.Posted on Google![]()

I had my ears cleaned of heavy wax deposits with no problems. The process was carried out professionally and was painless and if I have the same problem in the future I will go to the same pharmacy.

Yes. We usually need at least three months since your last COVID-19 dose. Bring the date of your last jab if you know it.
NHS vaccinations are sent to your GP record and usually show in the NHS App. We don’t routinely issue printed records for private jabs.
Ideally in October or November, before the flu spreads widely. It takes around two weeks for your body to build protection after the jab.
A mild cold is usually fine. If you have a fever or feel properly unwell, we’ll postpone your vaccine until you’ve recovered.
Yes. Flu strains change each season and protection fades within months, so last year’s vaccine won’t cover you properly this winter.
Book your NHS or private flu vaccine now before slots fill up in October. Schedule online or call 0121 377 8811. Visit us at 238 Wheelwright Road, Erdington, B24 8EH.
Walk-ins are welcome if a slot is available; otherwise, we’ll book you for the next opening.
