Use our online booking form or call the pharmacy to arrange a time that suits you. Appointments are available Monday to Saturday.
Your pharmacist will examine the lesion, confirm suitability for cryotherapy, and answer any questions you have. A full treatment plan is agreed before you leave.
Treatment is carried out at the pharmacy. Most sessions are done in under 15 minutes. You can go home immediately afterwards with full aftercare instructions.
Cryotherapy uses liquid nitrogen to freeze and destroy abnormal skin tissue. The extreme cold is applied directly to the lesion, causing the cells to break down. Your body then naturally sheds the treated tissue as part of the healing process.
Treatment is quick. Most sessions take between 5 and 15 minutes, depending on the size and number of lesions. The area is treated with a fine spray or a cotton-tipped applicator. Cryotherapy is one of the most widely used methods for removing common skin lesions in both NHS and private settings.
Warts and verrucas are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They are common, contagious, and often stubborn to shift with over-the-counter products. Cryotherapy targets the infected tissue directly and is one of the most effective treatments available.
These are benign, rough-textured patches that can appear anywhere on the body. They are not cancerous, but many patients want them removed for cosmetic or comfort reasons. Cryotherapy removes them cleanly with minimal scarring.
Solar keratoses are rough, scaly patches caused by years of sun exposure. They are considered pre-cancerous and should be treated early. Liquid nitrogen is a well-established first-line treatment for these lesions.
Superficial basal cell carcinomas are a type of slow-growing skin cancer that can respond well to cryotherapy when caught early. Our pharmacist will assess suitability during your consultation before proceeding with treatment.
Skin tags are soft, harmless growths that commonly appear on the neck, armpits, and eyelids. They can become irritated by clothing or jewellery. Cryotherapy removes them quickly and with very little discomfort.
Many small, benign skin growths are well suited to liquid nitrogen treatment. These include dermatofibromas, molluscum contagiosum, and similar minor lesions. Your pharmacist will advise on suitability at consultation.
Note: Our pharmacy provides cryotherapy only for clearly benign lesions. If a pharmacist has any concerns or identifies features requiring further investigation, we will refer you to your GP or dermatology services for assessment. Any mole or lesion changing in size, shape, or colour must be medically checked before treatment.
One small lesion, treated on the day
Several lesions in one session
Cryotherapy is fast. Most treatments are completed in a single short appointment. There is no need for general anaesthetic, no stitches, and no hospital visit.
The procedure is precise. Liquid nitrogen targets only the affected tissue, leaving the surrounding skin intact. Recovery time is short for most patients.
Cryotherapy can treat a range of common, benign skin lesions with a single method. Most benign lesions improve within a few weeks, though some, such as stubborn warts, need more than one session. Results vary from person to person.
Some redness and swelling around the treated area is completely normal. It usually settles within a day or two. Applying a cool compress can help ease any initial discomfort.
A blister may form within 24 hours of treatment. This is part of the body's natural response to the freezing process. Leave it alone and let it dry out on its own.
The treated skin may feel sore or sensitive for a few days. This is temporary and manageable with standard over-the-counter pain relief. Avoid touching or rubbing the area unnecessarily.
Some patients notice lighter or darker patches of skin after treatment. This is more common in patients with darker skin tones and is usually temporary. Your pharmacist will discuss this risk before treatment begins.
Permanent scarring is uncommon when treatment is carried out correctly. The risk increases if blisters are picked or the area becomes infected. Following the aftercare guidance given by your pharmacist keeps this risk low.
The treated area may look red and feel sore for the first day or two. A blister often forms and will dry into a scab over the following week. This is the body working as it should.
Keep the area clean and dry. Do not pick or burst the blister. If the skin breaks naturally, cover it with a clean dressing and let it heal. Avoid swimming or soaking the area until the skin has fully closed.
Most benign lesions settle within a few weeks. Some, such as stubborn warts, may need a second treatment. Your pharmacist will review progress and advise on next steps if needed.
Our cryotherapy service is delivered by a qualified, GPhC-registered pharmacist. This is not a beauty clinic or a pop-up service. You are in the hands of a trained healthcare professional from start to finish.
You can book directly without seeing your GP first. That saves you time and means you can get treated sooner. Most patients are seen within the same week of enquiring.
Every patient receives a proper assessment before any treatment is agreed. If cryotherapy is not right for your lesion, we will tell you that. You will never be pushed into a treatment that is not suitable.
You will know the full cost before anything starts. There are no hidden charges, no add-on fees, and no surprises at the till. What we quote is what you pay.
Treatment is carried out in a private, properly equipped consultation room within the pharmacy. We follow strict hygiene and infection control protocols on every visit. Your safety is not an afterthought.
We serve patients across Birmingham and the surrounding postcodes. Parking is available nearby, and we are well-connected by public transport. Getting treatment should not be a day out.

Cryotherapy is available on the NHS for some conditions, but waiting times can be long and access is not always straightforward. Private treatment at a pharmacy is often quicker and more convenient.
Most warts respond within one to three sessions. Stubborn or deep-rooted warts may need additional treatment spaced three to four weeks apart.
Cryotherapy can be suitable for older children, but it is not recommended for very young children due to discomfort. A parent or guardian must be present, and suitability is assessed at consultation.
Recurrence is possible because the HPV virus can remain in the skin. Keeping the area clean and treating early signs promptly reduces the risk of regrowth.
No referral is needed. You can book directly with us. Our pharmacist will assess your lesion and confirm whether cryotherapy is the right treatment at your consultation.
