Private Consultation
The pharmacist will invite you into our private consultation room for a confidential discussion.
Clinical Assessment
The pharmacist will ask about your symptoms and medical history. They may also use a validated clinical scoring system to determine the cause and severity of your sore throat.
Treatment Plan
- Self-Care & Relief: Often, a sore throat is viral. We can recommend effective pain relief and self-care tips.
- Antibiotics: If the pharmacist determines your sore throat is likely bacterial (e.g., Strep A) and clinically appropriate, they can supply antibiotics under the NHS service.
- Referral: If your symptoms suggest a more serious condition, or you need further investigation, the pharmacist will refer you to your GP, NHS 111, or another urgent care service.
GP Notification
We will notify your doctor about the treatment you received, ensuring your health records are complete.
